Resource and Expert Network (regional officers)

The regional officers are experts at local deafblind work. Their clients are deafblind and severely visual and hearing impaired young people, adults and their immediate family and friends. The regional counsellors have office hours on Mondays. All meetings need to be booked in advance.

 

You should contact the regional counsellors when you need information or help with social security benefits, rehabilitation, special equipment, accommodation and employment issues. The regional counsellors make home visits free of charge.

 

The Finnish Deafblind Association has 9 regional offices in Finland. Offices are located in Helsinki,  Jyväskylä, Kouvola, Kuopio, Oulu, Pori, Rovaniemi, Tampere and Vaasa.

 

Regional Director, Ritva Rouvinen, is the head of the regional officers.

The clients of the regional officers

The regional counsellors’ clients are deafblind and severely visual and hearing impaired young people, adults, elders and their immediate friend and family.  There are about 600 deafblind who are over 18-years old.  Approximately 55 % of the clients are over 65-years old.
